Privacy
Policy
The short version
- There is no account, no sign in, and no profile.
- Thermo Diem does not collect, store, or transmit personal information to us. We operate no servers and hold no database of users.
- Your location is used on your device to request a forecast, and is sent only to Apple's weather service for that purpose.
- The app carries no advertising, no analytics SDK, and no third-party tracking. This website uses Google Analytics, described below.
- We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising.
Who this applies to
This policy covers the Thermo Diem app for iPhone and Apple Watch, including its Home Screen widgets, Lock Screen widgets, and watch complications, and this website.
Thermo Diem is an independent app. In this policy, "we" means the developer of Thermo Diem, whose contact details are at the end.
Information we collect
We collect none. Thermo Diem has no account system, no login, no analytics service, and no backend of its own. We receive no information about you, your device, or your use of the app.
The app stores a small amount of data on your device so it can work: the locations you have chosen, your unit preference, and the most recent forecast it fetched. This stays on your device and in your device's own backups. It is never sent to us.
Location
Thermo Diem needs a location to tell you what the weather feels like there. You can either grant location access or enter a place manually. If you decline location access, the app still works with places you enter yourself.
How your location is used
- It is read on your device and used to request a forecast for those coordinates.
- Those coordinates are sent to Apple's weather service in order to return the forecast. They are not sent anywhere else.
- We never receive your location. It is not logged, profiled, or used to identify you.
- The app requests only the precision it needs for a local forecast.
Turning it off
You can change or revoke location access at any time in Settings, Privacy and Security, Location Services on iPhone, or in the Watch app on Apple Watch. Widgets and complications use the same permission as the app.
Weather data
Forecast data is provided by Apple Weather through WeatherKit. When the app or a widget refreshes, the coordinates for the location being shown are sent to Apple so a forecast can be returned. Apple's handling of that request is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
Data sources for Apple Weather are listed at weatherkit.apple.com/legal-attribution.html.
Diagnostics and crash reports
The Thermo Diem app includes no analytics, crash reporting, or telemetry software of its own. The website is separate and is covered below.
If you have turned on Apple's own "Share With App Developers" setting on your device, Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymised crash and performance data through App Store Connect. That is entirely Apple's mechanism and your choice, and it is controlled in Settings, Privacy and Security, Analytics and Improvements. We cannot identify you from it.
What we do not do
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No tracking across apps or websites, and no App Tracking Transparency prompt, because there is nothing to track.
- No third-party SDKs that collect data.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of personal information. There is none to sell.
- No emails, newsletters, or push notifications unless you have explicitly asked for them.
This website
The app and the website are separate. Everything above describes the app. This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read, so we know whether anything here is working.
Google Analytics sets cookies and records the usual web measurements: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, referring site, and general device and browser type. Google uses IP addresses to derive approximate location, then discards them before logging the data. We see aggregate reports, never individuals, and we do not attempt to identify anyone from them.
None of this touches the app. Installing Thermo Diem does not connect you to anything measured here, and nothing measured here is linked to app usage.
If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, this site does not load Google Analytics. Content blockers can also prevent analytics, and Google publishes an opt out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
App Store privacy label
The current App Store label lists coarse location under Data Not Linked to You, used for app functionality. That reflects the location request needed to return local weather. Basic Function does not receive or store that location on its own systems. The label describes the app only; website analytics are separate.
| Category | Status |
|---|---|
| Contact information | Not collected |
| Location | Coarse; not linked to you; app functionality |
| Identifiers | Not collected |
| Usage data | Not collected |
| Diagnostics | Not collected |
| Data linked to you | None |
| Data used to track you | None |
Children
Thermo Diem is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone, including children under 13, or under 16 where local law sets that threshold. Because nothing is collected, there is nothing to delete on a parent's request, but you are welcome to contact us with any question.
Retention and deletion
We hold no personal data, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Everything the app saves lives on your device. Deleting the app removes it, along with its saved locations and preferences.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, or to object to its processing. These include rights under the EU and UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act.
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to produce or erase. If you would like confirmation of that in writing, or you have any other request, contact us and we will respond.
For California residents: we do not sell or share personal information, and we have not done so in the preceding twelve months.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
